Publisher Spotlight & Giveaway: Bottom Drawer Publications

Publisher Spotlight

Bottom Drawer Publications & Driven Press

Bottom Drawer Publications (BDP) is a growing independent Australian publisher that publishes romance—Het and LGBT—across all sub-genres. Many of our books cross genre lines, which we’re very excited about as there are so many great stories out there that shouldn’t be pigeonholed.

BDP is an inclusive publisher. Love is love—we don’t believe there to be a definable difference between M/F, M/M, or F/F relationships. The only categorising we make is for alternative relationships, such as those involving BDSM, ménage a trois, and polyamory.

We currently have a wonderfully diverse catalogue spanning contemporary, sci-fi, chick lit, new adult, and paranormal genres, and soon to expand into fantasy, mystery, and alternative lifestyles.

BDP’s entire catalogue is available in e-book format (ePub, mobi for kindle, and PDF) plus our novel-length books are available in paperback from our website and all the main on-line bookstores: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBookstore, Kobo, All Romance, as well as localised bookstores via our distributor.

** BDP also has a member’s club where members have access to club discounts, newsletters about new releases, and opportunities for free e-books and prizes. (Check out the home page on our website to join)

We also have some exciting news for our readers as well. We are due to launch our general fiction imprint—Driven Press—at the end of the month.

One of our first offerings under Driven is Rubble and the Wreckage by Rodd Clark, a gay literary fiction novel about a serial killer and his biographer who falls in love with him. Also as part of our launch is Coalescence by Gary Starta, book one in a sci-fi/paranormal series that follows a team of ghost hunters who get caught up with a team of UFO chasers trying to save the world.

Authors: Our acquisition editors at both BDP and Driven are actively seeking submissions at the moment. We’d especially like to see more Erotic Romance submissions for BDP, and more Young Adult submissions for Driven Press. For more information about our requirements please check out the submissions guidelines on our websites.

Driven Press:

Publishers are asked all the time about what differentiates them from the masses. Our aim is not to say we can do it better than others, because there are a lot of great publishers out there, so instead we strive to emulate the best publishing models that we can. Three things we take particular pride in offering are:

• undertaking a strict three-step editorial process, comprising content/substantive editing, copy editing, and separate proof editing. Each done by a separate editor to ensure a well-rounded product;

• using localised spelling and usage for the manuscript setting. So if your story is set in London, the spelling will adhere to UK English. If it is set in New York, we will ensure it stays true to the location, with US spelling and usage. AU English no exception of course; and

• promoting authors as well as their books via a range of avenues.
